Lost

I woke up right before tomorrow in shortened breaths
dry mouth, submerged eyes and trembling hands
the slow tick of the twilight clock, my metronome.
Calm, rest, peace were all so far from grasp
panicked switching of lights and reflections of shadows
staring back into my won face thinking.
I lost something I cannot remember
time, life, words could not define it
I would never know what it was, but I felt it all the same
I lost something I cannot remember.
